Hi, B, dear,

Just a note to touch base and commend you on your heroic effort on my behalf yesterday.  I so appreciate you trying to take me to my parents, even though you were not feeling well.  I am so sorry you were not well.  I hope you're feeling better and that you got some good rest.  Watch out for that dratted gluten etc., now!

Too bad they do not have a Star Trekkish scanner/tricorder thingie for you to scan all food.  And, Dr. McCoy would just take one swoop over you with his little beep, beep thingie and would solve all problems right away.  One little injection and a brief rest under the gold lame blanket in sick bay, and no more worries for B, thereafter.  Till that day, carry on, and do the best you can (kudos to you for your bravery).

Know that all is well, you are loved by the Parrishii (plural for Parrish), and all is and shall be well.  (That would make a good Star Trek episode title, don't you think:  "You are loved by the Parrishii."  (Could be a fate worse than death though... like "The Trouble with Tribbles."  Cute and fuzzy and pink at first, then, "Oh my, what have I gotten myself into?!"  Just kidding.  Wink.

I think I could drive myself on the 15th if that would be easier for you guys.  Or, if you think it would be fun for us to go together, I am open to that, too.  The Universe had this all planned for me, apparently, yesterday, to see that I could drive myself.  So sorry God's plans seemed to involve an uncomfortable day for you.

God has a way of "getting His way" when He is of a mind to, I am starting to suspect, orchestrating all sorts of complexities involving various persons, etc.  Mean old God.  Lol.  Sigh.  (Or, maybe it was just $%^&* happens!  Hard to say.  That is one of my questions for the angel counsel when I get to the other side... How much was fate, and how much was the Divine orchestrating, us fulfilling our soul contracts, etc.)

There is an old saying, something about God wounding us so he can bind us up.  I am not sure I like that (along with Dad's famous "Life ain't no crystal stair" wink) but, as Dad and Mom explained when I asked them to summarize the book of Job for me (Dad directed JB and Mom, is, well, angelic and a minister) they were telling me that one of the main themes is man's inability (and ultimate acceptance of) the unknowable-ness of God's ways.  I think I understood them correctly and hope I am not mis-paraphrasing.

So, I suppose all of us, Merton with his nerves and eccentricity, B with her health struggles (if we are taking into consideration the book of Job) may perhaps question the Divine sometimes just to express our frustration, but ultimately just love each other and God, knowing that we cannot know or understand the unknowable (things like why we are given certain struggles, or why things happen as they do).  Well, that is my best attempt at making sense of it all, right now. That's a big challenge (and maybe THE challenge in life), but there we have it.  Sigh.

Anyway.. Well, I imagine you are reading this on your cute pink phone (which I bet S is going to want, as soon as she is of such an age to have such a thing.  Imagine all the things she will imagine when the whole world is at her finger tips!

K, 'nuff for now.  I copied Mom and Dad and J, since I thought they might like to read this little note to you, too, having been aware of the things that happened during our big day!

Peace to B,
J's Eccentric Big Brother, Merton
