This is one of a series of photographs of my new city studio.  I share it with my new partner, who is much like me (and here is a folder of photos of us together, should you wish to see:  mertonparrish.deviantart.com/g…. Both of us are musicians, artists, love books, spirituality, paranormal things and Ufology. So, we have much in common.

Now as for our personalities and approach to life, we are very different, and still getting used to each other.  It is kinda like the Odd Couple, Felix and Oscar (I am rather Felix and he is quite Oscar).  So I have a time chasing around after my new love, picking up clothes, straightening, etc., and we fuss about that.  But we do have so many common interests, perform music as a duo almost daily, make art together frequently, listen to programs about paranormal things and Ufology as we eat or travel, talk about spirituality often, etc. … and that is very nice.

At any rate here is a peek into our home/studio, where we live, work, teach, etc.  Hope you enjoy it.  It is in an old, very tall, art deco, 1920s building in our city, with a cool old elevator, neat lobby, big rolling lawn, lots of charm and atmosphere, and, surely, quite a few ghosts!  There are lots of interesting personages living in the building (lots of artists, musicians, young couples, nurses, teachers, etc).

We live just above the entrance, up several floors, and see the people coming and going to the building, the traffic on the main street of our town, airplanes and helicopters in the skies at night, etc.  We eat in front of our big living room window at an old dropleaf table.  We watch the world go by in the city, the things in the sky, the people down below taking their dogs out, etc.  This is very nice.

My students enjoy the atmosphere here (except for a few, usually younger ones, who are a bit mystified and scared of the neat old 1920s elevator, with its brass cage that closes, and its rumbling, rather jerky mechanism!).  One of the artists in the building sometimes puts his work in a little frame in the elevator that used to house some sort of sign related to the running of the elevator.

In this new photo series, you have a description of our home and a series of pictures, of which this is one.  I have a whole new life.  An owl came and visited me (perched in a huge tree behind the house in which I formerly lived with my former partner).  He was very large and loomed on the branch of a big old tree, silhouetted in the light of a in a humongous full moon, about a year ago.  True to the legend of owls, this visitation did mean death (or at least the death of a phase or phases in my life).  My whole life fell apart (partner of fourteen years stopped loving me, lost my home, studio, truck, art hermit life, doggie, etc.).

Now I have  a new partner, new studio in the city, new car, am back to performing and teaching a great deal.  I have, as well, a rather new style of art (see the more recent things in my gallery), etc., which rather developed over this past year of change (I can see it as an extension or continuation of gradual changes I have made over the years, but it did seem to come to fruition and sort of come into its own over this past year of tumultuous change).    Interestingly, before I move one and wrap up this artist comment (and leave behind the mentioning of the own as a harbinger of change in so many ways), I should note that my new partner had an owl come to visit him, too... and it meant utter and complete change for him, as well.

So, both of us, brought seemingly on the wings of change-bringing owls, are now living and working together in a very cool studio and a wonderful old building.  The studio is small.  I had to cram a fifteen hundred square foot house into a space about half that size when I moved.  And my partners things are here, too:  his drums, his art, an antique table, lots of art and sculpture, clothing, books, etc.  But as you can see it is lovely (and carefully and compactly organized!  I am getting used to my new partner, abode and life, and he is doing the same.  It is hard to make all this change so quickly, when I did not ask for it.  But apparently God wanted this (because seemingly, "Poof and my life is changed!" as a friend of mine is fond of saying.

So here I am in a new life, with a new love, in a new place, with really my old career (lots of teaching and performing). And, you can get a good idea of me and what makes me tick, what I am like, by taking a peek into the interior of my new city studio in this photo series.  I hope you enjoy it.  And, I hope your life is going well and that you are enjoying your home (whether it is new to you or old).

I wish you peace, happiness, creativity, growth, etc…  All the things that life is all about.  I know our homes rather represent and comfort us all at once.  Here is mine for you to see and enjoy.
