THERE IT IS, SO THAT, TIME TO IND

Merton writes to his dear friend R, describes his day, his unfolding new relationship, while touching on the ups and downs of manifesting and some funny expressions that folks he has know in his life have used when it comes time to end a conversation or visit.

R = my dear friend to whom I am writing
B = my new partner
D = my former partner of nearly fourteen years

Dear R,

It is a quiet night here. I taught students today (and B went to the library while I taught). I Febreezed, tugged and hung all our clothes from the last couple weeks (which I do in lieu of washing, often as possible), did some dusting and a little cleaning. B made dinner for us, we Skyped with his kids, I did some art work, and now just writing to you.

It is very quiet here, and warm... window open, wore shorts today. Tomorrow I have two programs, then Tuesday it is a free day, since I do not have anything scheduled yet on Tuesdays (it is to be a teaching day).

I have quite a few performances this week. Next week B starts his job. B is sleeping now. He gets upset a lot after he talks to his kids (which he does daily) and gets overwhelmed emotionally... so he is sleeping here beside me. He calls this "shutting down."

It is interesting to see/observe someone very sensitive and easily emotionally overwhelmed like myself with whom I am in relationship. We are still different though... he is artistic, musical and interested in many of the same things as I am, but there is that straight guy-ish point a to point b, shy, introverted, Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Hyde-ish stuff that D had, too.

Funny that despite the fact that I tried to manifest a "perfect match" for me (lol... good luck with that one, Merton, huh?), I still got a lot of the same things that I had with D again. Fascinating.

I guess the Universe keeps sending what it thinks we need to work on or bounce up against, no matter what we do, how we manifest or pray... or maybe there is that thing where we say we are manifesting one thing, but inside our prayer is really something else.

Hmmmmm... Well, "there it is," as one of the characters said, I believe in the movie Amadeus... or "so that," as my principal, Sister J M used to say (and I thought that was a stitch... loved it... such a strange but sorta funnily to the point way to end a conversation).

My lesbian psychiatrist friend (whose partner was a lesbian psychologist... how fun is that?) used to say, "I think it is time to 'end'" when it was time for the evening to end and they were ready to leave. She pronounced it "ind," which I thought was funny and sorta cute/amusing.

K, "there it is," "so that," and "time to ind!"

Get well, dear R-
