WHO IS MERTON AND WHAT DOES HE DO?

I list answers to this question here, so as not to put so much text in a module on my page.

(You may also want to read the info in the artist comment of my Deviant ID. There is much there of interest to fellow artists and visitors.) ( mertonparrish.deviantart.com/a… )

ABOUT ME, MERTON PARRISH…

I am a 55 year old, gay, male, varied artist, working in many genres.  I have, in the course of a busy and creative life, done and accomplished many things, including: teaching public school, giving private lessons, teaching and administrating theater, directing shows and choirs, writing/publishing/recording my own books, performing music live daily, composing/orchestrating/recording my own music, and designing/creating/publishing book and recording series.

I have mostly been a "mental traveler" to the world at large, as Isak Dinesan so eloquently put it, through the many books in my library.  I did, however, travel all over the east coast as a child, recently went out west, and traveled my city and surrounding areas making music for elders. For some time, after a very active professional life, I lived and worked happily at home: teaching, doing life coaching, writing, publishing, and making all sorts of fine art (see my DA gallery and its folders).

About five years ago, all in the space of about a year, my partner of fourteen years stopped loving me and ended our relationship. I lost my partner, home, studio, artist life, truck, doggie, many of my possessions, etc. Then, God sent another partner to me, with whom I made art and music, both at home and out in the world.  That, sadly, was short lived.

Now, after much prayer, manifesting, hard work, and adjusting, I have a delightful, beautiful 34 year old hubby.  He travels with me to the musical performances I once again do daily for elders.  He navigates, keeps me company, does many chores, and lots of behind the scenes stuff.

I am very blessed.  You can see pictures of hubby and I together here (www.deviantart.com/mertonparri…) and our home here (www.deviantart.com/mertonparri…).

So, though I used to be rather an art hermit (and loved that), I am back out in the world, traveling and performing music, just as I used to, when I was younger. And, I have a young and beautiful husband, who keeps me young.

I will try to keep creating fine art, craft work, and photographs, and post it as often as I can.  I will endeavor to keep up with correspondence here on DA.  I hope you enjoy your visit to my page, and please stop by often. Drop me a note and tell me what is up with you, my artist brothers and sisters.  I wish you wellness, happiness, creativity, connection to Muse, and all good things!

-Merton :)
